I would love to know the story behind the song Rita. I heard it for the first time a few days ago and have played it over and over. I recently lost my sister and niece in an accident involving a high speed chase of a drunk driver. The driver struck them from behind going approx 120 mph. I lost my niece at the scene and my sister 6 days later. When I hear the song I think of the time I spent in her room just waiting. I said many of those words.
Please share your story.
You have touched my heart.
I too am curious as to the story behind this song. I heard it recently and have listened to it quite a few times. It reminds me of what my wife has gone through the last twelve years in dying a slow death from early onset of Alzheimer's. I am considering having a bluegrass singer, Jody Adams, sing it at her memorial service. I know it would be difficult for many present to hear it but it speaks volumes of what she has gone through and that soon she will "thirst no more." She has very little time left and has suffered greatly including abandonment of friends who "wrote her off" as dead years ago. Thanks for the words and message of Rita.
